Avantis lived a perfectly normal life, well as normal as someone can live being isolated from the entire world. Avantis had a mentor that kept the family location a secret; a man by the name of Sanctus. Sanctus trained Avantis how to live, hunt, fight, and most importantly how to cast magic; this is one of the most defining moments in history because Avantis was the first mage to be taught by a human instead of a Angel or Demon.
Avantis trained for many years as war ravaged the world around him. At the age of 14 the most incredible thing happened, the moment that would spiral into TatsuKhan's downfall. Avantis was supposed to learn to hunt without tracks, Sanctus had laid down a track he was supposed to follow but Avatis accidentally followed a different path one that led to a real creature. A Dragon.
Avantis approached the Dragon, before he got close the Dragon spoke to him, telepathically, "Take one more step if you do not wish to see tomorrow." the Dragon snapped its jaws. Avantis saw the Dragon was injured and, without hesitation, rushed to the Dragon's aid. "You're hurt. let me heal you." The Dragon was resentful at first but unable to fight back since the wounds were too severe. The Dragon then realized this human actually wished to help. This magical moment, where two souls who should hate each other; one helps the other with no regard for his life, this moment is what started the change for the new world. It didn't matter to Avantis if this creature was a fearsome Dragon, a gentle Pixie, a Coloured man, Woman; all that mattered was he was able to help, so he did.
After the Dragon was healed Avantis started conversing with him. His name was Draco, he was fighting a group of mortals when one fired a sliver dipped arrow at him, causing him to crash. "Why would you fight mortals?" Avantis asked as he did not know of the war. "Because they are the enemy." Draco said this as if it was obvious. "Magic is superior to man and so it must rule him." "But my father is a mage and my mother is a mortal. That makes me half mortal, and it took ALL of me to save you from the brink of death." These words resonated with Draco. As he pondered these words, Sanctus went looking for Avantis and when he found the boy he was shocked at what he saw. He saw the first ever Dragon Rider, Avantis was riding Draco straight up and out of the forest he had been imprisoned in for so long...
